yes. i've been to ulverston. i lived in lancaster for 6 years. goldfish (on this forum) lives in ambleside. so its not that devoid of cool people

Oh I know Ambleside well, there are some lovely walks and campsites around there. Its not so much that there are no 'cool' people around here, its just the lack of things that I'm into. No decent gig venues and every club is playing this horrendous new breed of rave shite. I'm a bit long in the tooth for that now, I'd rather go and listen to a good 'folk band' if you know what I mean!

there was quite a big folk scene in kendal in my day.
also Lancaster university put on sporadic gigs around freshers week and the end of the acadeic year
lancaster and morecambe libraries put bands on occasionally - i've seen long blondes, british sea power, the whip, clinic and fuck buttons listed
if you can be bothered to go to preston 53degrees had a band a week when i was local, and occasionally the Mill but think that might have closed now
oh! and kendal calling in the summer
even foals have played in morecambe
and you know you're not that far from Glasgow...

when i lived there i went to every single gig going even when i didn't like the band just because it takes an audience to kick start a scene and i was very lucky my flatmates put gigs on in town every tuesday and friday nights (they've since moved to manchester). when i moved to london i initially tired to go to *EVERYTHING* too as i didn't want to miss out on anything. now i'm just spoilt.

my computer time is limited and I mainly post on another forum. but I am working my way through the media goodies and am enjoying the live and ed fitz songs.

Math rock is all about me.

Do they still call it math rock. We had screamy out of control math rock on the east coast of PA.

I still did what the boys are doing.
