i think that if you have a european licence you can drive everywhere in europe, but i'm not surez how it works for european to drive in the us and the other way round.

I know there are such things as international licenses - but am not completely clued up on obtaining them. Who do you go to to get your license in America? We have a Roads & Traffic Authority and I'm quite sure you'd go to them to get an international license - and if not them, they should know something about where to get one.

during your second yr in high school (age 15-16) you take the driver's ed class.
you are given a test in that class and if you past you get signed off to take your permit test at the DMV.
go to DMV past their test you get permit.
must have permit for a year.
take driving lessons, pass you take written license test.
if you pass that then you take your driving test.
you pass that you get your provisional license.
provisional license lasts up for a year.
after that its smooth sailing. :)

Maybe you have to go to these DMV people to get it

Coincidentally enough, the subject of international licenses came up tonight with another friend! She's moved from the US to the UK, and she's done her research... I'm just going to copy & paste what she said because I'm too lazy to re-write it myself:

Quote:
[International licenses] only allow you to drive for a set period, same as just using my US license, as all an international driving license is is your license translated into multiple languages (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internatio ... rs_License ) There ARE license trade agreements (for instance, you could change a Canadian license for a UK Automatic license) but the US has no such agreement with the UK. I am only allowed to drive on my US license for one year. So [in one year] I am not allowed to drive in this country unless I have a UK license.

well in the UK a bachelor's degree is the first degree you take and it lasts either 3 or 4 years.
there is no degree after just two years, that would be a diploma or a higher education certificate, depending.
French degrees are not necessarily equivalent to British degrees. For example, most European teaching and therapy degrees are worthless here (that is you wouldn't be able to get a job with one). sucks.
